Bikini Fitness Competitions

Bikini fitness competitions are more than just beautiful smiles and sexy bodies.  Participants of these types of competitions also have to go through rigorous training and presentation routines wherein they will be judged based on several criteria.  Today, more and more women are into such contests and events because of the boost of confidence they can get from parading in front of a panel of judges and a big crowd while wearing a sexy swimsuit.  The following are some of the major bikini fitness competitions that continue to attract hundreds of spectators and contestants:

Competitions held by the International Federation of Body Builders

The International Federation of Body Builders (IFBB) holds fitness contests for women: Fitness International and Fitness Olympia.  These events both showcase the best of fitness participants.  Fitness International is held every year as an event in the Arnold Classic.  The first-ever Fitness Olympia contest was actually held in 1995.

Fitness Universe pageants

One of the leaders in fitness events for women, the Fitness Universe pageants are a series of events such as the Figure Universe, Fitness Universe, Fitness America, Ms. Bikini America, and Ms. Bikini Universe.  These contests are televised all over the globe, and are held to offer opportunities for ladies from different countries to feature their fit bodies in glamorous and prestigious pageants.  Global coverage are shown on Eurosports, ESPN International, TSN/RDS Canada, and Star Sports Asia.

Previous champions include Fitness America 2008 winner Lindsay Messina from New York, Fitness Universe 2008 winner Sheri Vucick from Pennsylvania, Ms. Bikini America 2008 winner Angelike Psoinos from Florida, and Ms. Bikini Universe 2008 winner Kelly Shreck also from Florida.

Fitness Atlantic

As an independent fitness event that combines a series of bodybuilding, modeling, figure, bikini, and fitness contests, Fitness Atlantic features a one-of-a-kind twist in their evening show.  This twist gives every participant a chance to be recognized.  The Fitness Atlantic show boasts of a sold-out audience for their various events, high production standards, and national exposure for their gorgeous ladies.  For 2010, the next event will be on April 24, 2010.  The events are classified into the following divisions and classes: fitness model, figure (short and tall), bikini (short, medium, and tall), bikini classic, and the Fitness Atlantic pageant.

Along with the pageant is an expo featuring various health products and supplements, athletic wear, and exercise equipment.  Because the Fitness Atlantic event is a unique combination of product expo and contests, their events continue to attract participants and spectators from different age groups.

Women’s Tri-Fitness Model

The Women’s Tri-Fitness Model contest is an exciting event that showcases beautiful ladies who are fit, fab, and oozing with grace and poise.  This contest has a total of two rounds — swimsuit and theme wear.  Prizes include a photo shoot with a popular photographer and being featured in various magazines such as Tri-Fitness, Natural Muscle, BodySport, and Oxygen.

Winners from 2009 included Brandy Goddard, Shar Courtney, Melissa Wuorinen, Kim Williams, and Connie Knott for the fitness skills contest.  As for the 2009 Tri-Fitness models, these include Sarah Jon Porreca, Wendi Malphurs, Teresa Evans, and Mandy Magnuson.
